FMI Limited the manufacturers of FREEMANS products had a modest beginning in 1950 when Mr. Madan Nayar the present Chairman and Managing Director of the company initiated the manufacturer of Metal Wired Tape for the first time in the country. This marked the beginning of the measuring tools industry in India.

Encouraged by the response, the first Indian FREEMANS fiberglass tape measures was introduced in 1962 and steel tape measures and tape rules were introduced in 1966 with American technical know how.

Precision, quality and a firm belief in perfection resulted in constant upgrading of technology and expansion of the existing production facilities to meet the growing demand.

Manufacture and export of steel rules, spirit level & hand tools added a new dimension to our activities. Stringent quality control, in keeping with the tradition, precedes the marketing of these products.

Entering the 21st century, FREEMANS manufacturing faith in quality goes stronger. At FMI, the quest for excellence is an on-going process.

We earned worldwide renown, with well established markets in over 60 countries. The company was amongst the first non-European manufacturers
to obtain EEC approval which is a testimony to the fact that the tape measures conform to the best international quality standards. To establish distribution network for serving all the European Countries, EUROFREEMANS S.A. was established in Barcelona (Spain) which substantially increased the market penetration in Europe.
